Win A Team Sandy Tee - Contest

Hi Gang -

If you've purchased, but not yet received, a hat, it is on its way to you right now. I have just a few leftover RAAM tees (and plenty of hats, though that may change after this weekend).   These are nice, wicking performance tees, fully sublimated to match my race jerseys.  I'll want to save a few tees for sponsors and such, but - I've decided to give one away to a lucky reader....so I'm holding a contest.

Contest Rules: Simple!

  1. Post your guess as a comment to this blog post. (If you have trouble doing this, email me at sandyearl@gmail.com with your guess, but do try to post it  - because seeing all the guesses is half the fun!).
  2. First correct guess wins - your choice of available sizes.
  3. If you already OWN a Team Sandy tee, you can guess, but you're not eligible to win. You know who you are.
  4. Multiple guesses are okay, but I'll only count your LAST one, so make it good.
  5. I'll TRY TO post feedback on guesses (getting warmer...), but no guarantees on timeliness.
  6. Contest entry period ends midnight 5/31/2010.
  7. If no one guesses correctly, I will award the tee to the person with the Most Entertaining (But Still Logically Reasonable) guess.
OK...drumroll....for your shot at fame, immortality, and a really hot tee shirt, answer me this:

Sandy has had almost 250,000 (what!!!) since 11/1/2009?

So - what is it? Bugs on the windshield? Holes in her socks? What's the significance of 11/1? I'll warn you right away that this is obscure. Someone out there just might be able to put it together, though.

  2. Alex says it's York Peppermint Patties. Hopefully they were the bite-sized ones.

  3. Not close yet - anyone. Alex - 250,000 YPPs would be quite a challenge! Even the minis...that'd be 50,000 kcal/day. And think of all the wrappers! This is really obscure. The 5/31 date is also significant, so watch for more info and hints. @Dirt - even at a stately 75rpm 250k pedal revs would be about 55 hours of training.

  4. Blades of grass in your yard? You said it was obscure! Man, I want that shirt.

  5. Calories eaten is way under - more like 500k (2500/d). The B.C. (Big Cat) is closest so far at hitting the right range on the obscure meter, and also at coming up with something that's in the right range numerically (blades of grass) - but is no closer to barking up the right tree than anyone else.
First hint: the contest ends on 5/31 to remember the ONE athlete I knew who would've figured this out immediately, and been sure enough of her answer to post her T-shirt size.
This may not help you much - stay tuned for more....

  11. @JHM - web hits are off by an order of magnitude, but we're workin' it, no? @Bill - Hm...you're not correct, but - definitely doable!!! @Joe - That would be a LOT of k's. - again, likely an order of magnitude off.

  12. @Bill - Yuk is right. But also incorrect. At >1k bugs/day that would be quite the protein supplement...Western Oregon has a low-bug season from Nov-Feb so..nope. @Mark - that's a solid number for ft climbed - but not on the right track, I'm afraid...plus you know I don't track stats that close.

I know I know "brain cells die". How else do you explain why Sandy wants to do solo raam again!

  22. Colleen...a girl never tells! Sven - yuck! David - O: I think the number must be far higher! Miriam - you're winning on at-bats...keep trying.
Clue 3: When I'm at 250,000 I will have run out, and I expect to run out the day I leave for Oceanside.
(Reprise: Clue 2: "OUTSIDE"...Clue 1: I knew someone who would have guessed this intuitively...and I'll post more about that on Monday)
